History of Sanwa Shutter

1956

April	Established Sanwa Shutter Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (President: Manji Takayama), a predecessor of this company, in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture.

1959

October	Established Sanwa Shutter Co., Ltd. with branches in Sapporo, Sendai, Tokyo, Nagoya and Fukuoka.

1961

May	Established Sanwa Shoji Co., Ltd.

1963

April	Merged three Group companies and established Sanwa Shutter Corporation. Relocated headquarters to Tokyo.

1974

August	Entered into technical tie-up with Overhead Door Corporation(U.S.A.).
October	Relocated the headquarters to Shinjuku, Tokyo.

1981

May	Toshitaka Takayama becomes President and Manji Takayama Corporate Advisor.

1983

March	Deployed nationwide 24-hour service.

1986

October	Established Sanwa Shutter (H.K.) Ltd. in Hong Kong.

1988

September	Established An-Ho Metal Industrial Co., Ltd. in Taiwan.

1991

April	Completed the Techno Center building.

1992

October	Established Sun Metal Co., Ltd. in Thailand.

1996

July	Established Sanwa USA Inc. and acquired Overhead Door Corporation. Secured the lion's share of the U.S. garage door and shutter markets.
November	Established PT. Sanwamas Metal Industry in Indonesia.

2000

April	Introduced the intra-company system, streamlining internal organization so we can directly respond to the market.

2002

July	Established Customer Service Center.

2003

October	Acquired Novoferm, Europe's second-largest manufacturer of doors and shutters. With this acquisition, Sanwa Shutter established a presence in Europe, as well as Japan and the United States.

2004

January	Established Sanwa Shutter Design (Shanghai) Corporation in Shanghai.
April	Established an internal office on Corporate Social Responsibilities to oversee risk management, legal compliance and environment-friendly policies.

2005

September	Entered into comprehensive business alliance with Hochiki, a leading fire detection and disaster-prevention equipment company in Japan.
December	Established Novoferm(Shanghai) Co., Ltd. a joint venture with Thyssenkrupp Elevators in Shanghai to manufacture and sell elevator doors and hinge doors.

2006

April	Sanwa Shutter celebrated its 50th anniversary.
April	Established Shanghai Baosteel-Sanwa Door Co., Ltd., a joint venture with Baosteel Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Baosteel, in Shanghai to manufacture and sell overhead doors, rolling shutters and sheet shutters. Completed base of quadruple core structure: Japan, U.S.A., Europe and Asia (China).

2007

October	The Sanwa Group adopts holding company system. Sanwa Shutter Corporation changed its trade name to “Sanwa Holdings Corporation”, and the operating company succeeded the trade name “Sanwa Shutter Corporation”.

2008

January	Sanwa Holdings agreed to establish a joint-venture company, VINA-SANWA, with the Vietnamese construction and trading company Vinaconex Corporation.
March	Sanwa Holdings acquired 100% of the shares of Hayashi Industries Co., Ltd., a steel door manufactureing company.

2009

December	Overhead Door Corporation, our consolidated subsidiary, acquired the door businesses of Wayne Dalton Corporation.

2010

February	Established domestic direct sales contract with Efaflex Co.,Ltd.(Germany).

2011

November	Sanwa group test center acquired the International standard (ISO/IEC17025).

2012

January	Established contract about OEM with LIXIL Co.,Ltd. and offered service at the same time.
November	Introduced sales support tool iPad.

2013

April	Updated the home page completely.

2014

July	Received the 8th kid design prize for「the specification of prevention for finger smash of apartment house door」
